Ice Storm / February 9, 2001

The ice storm was starting to hit when we went to bed last night. The city trucks started plowing at 4am so I got up to look out and it was snowing like crazy. By the time 8am rolled around, school was cancelled and the neighborhood was filled with the sounds of ice being chipped and stuck cars. The patrol car hasn't been stuck yet this winter - not even through the two blizzards we've had. It made a valiant attempt today but it was all in vain. As the rest of the neighbors finally surrended to the idea that they were stuck for the day, the shiny red wrecker came to the rescue. The schools can close, the mail may not be delivered but my favorite deputy will be on the road come hell or high water or in this case, ice.
