New rabbit house

A few weeks ago, Lisa came home with a rabbit. She found this thing and decided it needed a new home. I have never had a rabbit before so it’s a bit of a new deal for me. He really is pretty friendly. I put him out in the garage and up until today that’s where he has lived.

Tonight it’s supposed to get down to 14 degrees so the wire cage in the garage wasn’t going to cut it. So I rounded up all my scrap lumber and started to build a rabbit hutch. That’s what I have done for most of the last 2 days. Yeah, I know… shouldn’t have taken that long but it did. Anyway, tonight he’s got a new, much larger house to live in with a sheltered portion rather that being all screen. The next step will be to hook up the heat lamp for the much colder nights ahead.

Colder

Tonight it’s supposed to get down to 22. That will be the coldest it’s gotten so far this year. A friend of mine is in Iraq and he said it’s 104 in the day, 40 at night. I can’t imagine that kind of a temperature swing. I actually don’t mind the cold too much. The thought of a little bit of snow intrigues me too. Sure would help out my attempts at hunting which have so far proved a waste of time. Well, not completely. Getting to spend time outside walking around is fun, even if the birds seem to be on vacation or something. Maybe I’ll have better luck in the morning.
