This morning, just for fun or possible aggravation, I decided to get the old laptop back out to see if I could fix it. Much to my surprise, it came on and seems to be working like it used to. So for now, I’m back on it and we’ll just have to see how long it lasts.
Yesterday Lisa and I went on a little trip up north. She has been needing new tires on the Buick so that was the main objective, along with a few other miscellaneous things. We did the tires first, ate and ended the day with a trip to Petco. This past summer we took all the kids to the Botanical Center in Des Moines and they gave us 5 baby Koi, all of which have been living together in a 2 gallon goldfish bowl since that time. Well that wasn’t good enough so we got a 10 gallon aquarium for them. I’m a little bit curious to see how big they will get in there but on the other hand; we may have to build a pond for them next. Those things really get big.
My old work car is really getting the miles racked up on it. I’ve been thinking about what to replace it with for several months now. A couple of days ago while I was car shopping online, I found an interesting site. You can check car values if you are buying or selling one. So I decided to see what the old girl was worth, just to get an idea.
So after punching in all the options, miles, color and anything else it asked, I got a few numbers. The one that made me kind of ill at first and then mad, was the trade in value. It was $159. Yeah, nice ain’t it? So what it comes down to is that in December when the alternator went out, it was in fact, totaled. If only I would have known.
In just a few minutes, the Daytona 500 will kick off the 2004 NASCAR season. It’s been a long winter break and as of today, it’s over. Our Sunday tradition is back and we are ready. It could only be better if one of our drivers wins today and the chances of that are good I’d say. So enough of this for now, I have a race to watch.
Happy Valentines Day Lisa. Forgot the traditional dog pic in the last post.
Last night at the Boy Scout meeting I heard the Scoutmaster talking to one of the kids. They were talking about the plans that the kid’s parents had given to him, which was, after the meeting he was supposed to drop the kid off at the convenience store. Yeah, leave him at the store and they would pick him up after they got back into town. Maybe an hour, maybe longer. Of course the Scoutmaster refused to do this. It got me thinking that this is possibly the reason that the Boy Scouts are of such importance.
There are few things that I like about getting up in the morning. One of them is my coffee, the 6:30 am drive to work just wouldn’t be the same without it. So Thursday morning I drive to work with cup in hand. Shortly after I get there I’m working on cup number 2 from the Thermos. Just before noon I’m on number 4, standing and talking with a guy I work with. Just as I take the last sip, something is different. Sure, it tastes almost the same but somehow it’s different. Oh yeah, I think I know what it is. It’s that chunk of crap in my mouth that’s different. None of the other cups had chunks. So I stand there, trying to decide if I dare take the chance… nope, I ain’t doing it. So I spit all of it out on the snow. “Bad coffee?” I hear. “Nope, just can’t make myself swallow unknown chunks of crap” I say in a serious tone. Upon further inspection I see one of these suckers on the coffee stained ground. Not quite as flavorful as you’d guess from the colors. (Note to self: Inspect coffee cup in the morning BEFORE pouring coffee into it.)
Well, DJ won the Bud Shootout last night. Although he isn't one of "my" guys, I was glad to see him win one.
It’s finally back. In a little bit, NASCAR starts up again. I really miss that over the winter. I’m not real sure how well this new points thing is going to work out but for now, I won’t worry about it. Just as long as it’s back on.
