lwhirrett: I love Todd.
SmarterChild: OK. I'll make a note of it.
lwhirrett: I really do.
SmarterChild: Yup. Got it.
lwhirrett: Who do I love?
SmarterChild: I don't know who .
lwhirrett: I just told you.
SmarterChild: You did?
lwhirrett: Yes. You said you'd make a note.
SmarterChild: I did?
lwhirrett: Yes. Davezilla's right. You're not that smart at all.
Beautiful day today. coldmarble told me it was okay to go out and spread my germs around so we went to an auction. Stayed just a few minutes and decided there was surely something better to do. We came back home and grabbed the dog and the camera and headed to the country. There used to be a town called Terre Haute but all that's left now is the cemetery. Some pictures didn't fit in the cemetery category so I put them here.
Davezilla has been filling the void left since the disappearance of Jon's site. If you are in desperate need of a laugh, I suggest you go read his conversations with the SmarterChild chatbot. I thought maybe part of it was exaggerated so I added SmarterChild to my buddy list and gave it a go. He's not exaggerating. You can have some very interesting conversations indeed.
Christopher and I are both sicker than dogs.... literally. heh. Dozer is fine today. No residual effects of his sudden illness at all. C and I ... we're both coughing and hacking and wheezing. Last night I got up and went to the bathroom to apply a new layer of Vicks Vaporub. A short while later I was coughing again and was just too dang tired to get out of bed a second time. After a ten minute long coughing spell I remembered that there was Vicks on my nightstand. At least I thought there was. I fumbled around in the dark, found a bottle of something, opened it to smell it and couldn't smell a thing. The texture felt like Vicks so I put a bunch on then laid there and wondered if that really was Vicks. My nightstand is filled with all the remedies possible to get sick, itchy, scratchy, restless kids back to sleep. For all I know, I could've rubbed on Pepto Bismol or calomine lotion or hydrocortisone cream. I told Todd about it this morning - that my big fear was that I had grabbed Benjamin's Desitin (butt cream). Todd was kind enough to give me permission to turn on the light next time.
Butt cream... reminds me of a Ben story. I may have already told it when it happened. Oh well.. it's worth a repeat if I did. Some time back, Todd took Ben and Emily to his neice's house for a birthday party. When they got back I asked Benjamin what all they did, what they ate, etc. He was telling me about the cake and ice cream and how he'd had chocolate syrup and nuts with his ice cream. Todd said "Yeah, they had it laid out where we could make our own sundaes. It was pretty cool. Tell her what else you had on your ice cream, Ben." Ben thinks real hard as Todd prompts ".....cream????" Ben enthusiastically yells "BUTT CREAM!!!"
I'm sick. Christopher is sick. Dozer is sick. Dozer made an emergency trip to the vet for his illness. Isn't that crazy? He doesn't even have insurance.
Seriously though, Christopher and I both have colds that will eventually go away. Dozer, on the other hand, was incredibly sick to his stomach and drooling like mad. The vet is 15 miles or so away and it was 9:30pm when I demanded that Todd take him down there. Todd looked at me like I had flipped. Luckily for me, our vet is very understanding and charges the same amount, day or night. Luckily for Dozer, Todd never tells me no. Three shots later they are both home safe and sound. We have to watch him for awhile because there's a chance it's parvo. I can't imagine that's what it is. Keep your fingers crossed.
Jon's site is down so no Sullivan fix today. He assures me that pacbell will have it all resolved by early morning. ha! It's amazing how reading friend's sites becomes so routine and when they disappear, the whole day/week/month is outta whack.
A long time ago I told Brooke that I'd never heard the name Robertshaw before. I was cleaning the laundry room today and found some parts that Todd had taken off the water heater when he replaced the thermostats.
Guess there were Robertshaws heating up before Brooke came along and I didn't even know it.
This is an informational post for HouseGuru and anyone else who cares about llamas and cameras.
Here's some general info about llamas. The llamas I've been around don't normally smell unless they've been spitting. Their spit stinks to high heaven. Frosty, one of the llamas that we've been caring for, spits at Leo a lot. Leo is her baby from two years ago. She spits to let him know that he's not the baby anymore and that he should go away. She spits at Fritz, the male, to let him know that she's not even interested in his advances. She does give a warning gesture so that humans can remove themselves from the line of fire. When she arches her neck and points her head skyward, spit's about to hit the fan.
Fritz thinks he's quite the stud and tries to prove it by jumping up and putting his front feet over the fence. I call it "showing his ass" because it's clearly an imitidation tool. The really strange thing is that although he acts aggressive, he's the one that wants human attention the most.
Llamas are like any other pet I guess. The more you handle them, the better behaved and more affectionate they are. I wouldn't want to meet up with one that didn't like humans. Their bottom teeth protrude almost straight out and look very sharp. Males also grow fighting teeth at the back of their jaws that are curved and razor sharp. Most pet llamas have their fighting teeth cut off.
Cameras. I use two... a Nikon CoolPix 995 that we bought on the recommendation of Noah. The other one is a Sony Mavica that rarely sees the light of day since the Nikon purchase. I begged and pleaded for the Nikon because I love photography and wanted some control over the camera. There are a lot of great digital cameras on the market now from $100 to $1000+. Digital Photography Review is an awesome website that should be browsed before making a camera purchase. My personal suggestion is that you should only consider buying something in the megapixel range. Also, be careful if considering any that take AA batteries. They go through batteries incredibly quick.
Dang! With all those links, this post looks like it belongs on a real blog. heh.
