Todd calls me lots of little pet names that he makes up off the top of his head. Very sweet... usually. Today's pet name is "Muffin Chunks". What the hell??? How did "Sweet Muffin" mutate into "Muffin Cake" and then into "Muffin Chunks"?? What does "Muffin Chunks" mean?? I think it's wrong to use the word "chunks" in any form of endearing commentary, don't you? (he's laughing at me as I type this...)
Maybe I am just sensitive about my thighs... I called my "other mother" in Des Moines the other day and told her I had gained 15 pounds in the last year. She said "Honey, that's a good thing! You're getting curvy. Before you were like a board. Guys don't like boards.. they like curves." I told her curvy is just a nice way of saying squishy.
Seriously, I am happy with my weight now. I finally almost weigh what I should for my height. No more comments about how skinny I am and how disgusting that is. That's nice not to have to listen to that old, tired crap anymore. I used to have an entire rant here about how much I hated overweight people knocking me for being underweight. More examples of rudeness. Skinny people do not go up to obese people and say "My God! How many sandwiches did you eat today for crying out loud??" or "What size are those pants?? I didn't know they made 'em that big!" yet large people have no problem coming up to a slim person and saying stupid stuff like "Don't you ever eat??" or "What are those jeans?? Size one??"
Anyway, this country is chock full of rude people. Don't be one of them, 'k?
Phase one of a client's website revamp went live today so that's a huge load off my mind. I'm still trying to figure out Linux and Qmail and I still find a lot of Linux people to be incredibly abrasive. I can't prove it statistically but I can say that I have never encountered such attitude when asking other Windows adminstrators for help.
I bet right now there are Linux users reading this and thinking "Yeah, that's because Windows has so many problems, you admins have to stick together!" That's the kind of crap that gets under my skin. Windows is seriously flawed; I have two new security bulletins released in the last half hour to prove that. However, administrators of all operating systems need support sooner or later. It's nice if you can ask for help without returning with your head in your hands.
Case in point: I joined several mailing lists in order to learn more about Linux. Every one of these lists has a handful of people who cannot just give advice. They have to be condesending about it. They provide answers like "You obviously have a problem with your typing." and "If you can't see the difference then you need to go back to school." and "Did you have a *real* question?" Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I've only asked one question and luckily found a person kind enough to help me with each step I get hung up on. If anyone ever gave me a shitty answer, I'd jump down their throat and climb out their ass. And when I was finished, I'd sick Candi onto them. hehehe
Anyhow, the moral of this story is that if you have knowledge that someone else needs, be nice and share it willingly and preferably without judgment.
