So my perfect evening that I had planned went to hell in a hand basket. Brooke says I should write more about these kinds of things when they happen but ya know, I don't want justlisa.com to become a platform for my whiney ass. I'd rather it be a balance of the good and the bad even though the bad far outweighs the good anymore.
Thanks to Patti and Dan the evening wasn't a total loss. Patti listened to me whine and provided counsel while Dan was good for putting a smile on my face. He's always good for that.
I've said it before and I'll say it a hundred thousand times more before this life is through with me: the online community is great! I have the perfect balance of friends. Cruise through my link list and you'll find people who provide me laughter, people who kick my butt when I need it, people who cry with me when things go wrong... there is always at least one person in that list available to me day or night. My mom thinks internet friendships are a farce but since the majority of my life is lived in front of this little box, I'd go crazy without them.
I don't like to jinx myself but I have to take the chance. I rock. Yes I do. Jon Sullivan thinks he's the cat's meow but he's so yesterday. hehehe
Now seriously, Jon rocks every day and strives for perfection whereas I just hit a good day every once in a great while. I got some major things cleared off my plate at work today so maybe I will sleep tonight.
Christopher and Emily's school Christmas program was tonight. C. had a speaking part this year and wouldn't ya' know it, he came down with a terrible cold over the weekend. He woke up at 5am coughing and wasn't able to breathe. The poor kid stood on the seat of the toilet and blew his nose, then recited his lines, then blew his nose again and recited the lines again. He was so afraid he wasn't going to be able to speak well enough for people to hear him. We loaded him up with cough medicine about an hour before the program and he did just super.
We had a hard time picking Emily out of the crowd of kids. I'd start to count "She's the one, two, three..." and they'd all stand up and she'd disappear behind the bigger kids. I don't know why they never take the time to organize them with the smaller ones in front. At any rate, they all did a great job and thankfully it was short and sweet this year. It's hotter than Hades when you shove 500 parents into a little gymnasium.
Now our friend Brent is on his way over with his Rottweiler. He said last night that it weighs 45 pounds now and is about knee high. Poor Dozer doesn't stand a chance anymore. Speaking of Dozer, check out the surprise he got in the mail today from his friends Faith and Boris in New York. Todd thinks it's a femur from a T.Rex.
Christopher came home a little early from his dad's house tonight so we could drive around and look at Christmas lights. It was supposed to be a way for us to relax and hang out. Instead it was very eerie. The sky is crystal clear with a bright yellow moon and more stars than you could ever hope to count. Perfect night except for this one bizarre streak in the eastern sky. It started at the ground and looked to be half a block wide. Christopher spotted it first and asked what would cause that. I had no idea.
As we drove around, I kept looking that direction and another streak would appear from the ground. Then another. And another. It was like the white trails behind a jet only the one was much, much bigger. By the time we got back home, there were six of them all seeming to originate from the same place. Very strange indeed. I came inside and checked CNN to see if maybe we were shooting nukes from Offutt AFB in Nebraska or something. Just what I need... another thing to lay awake and worry about.
